Invader Inspiration - Mixed Media Mosaics
6th Grade
This lesson allows students to improve on their understanding of what and where art is. After viewing the street art installations of the Invader tiles, students will discuss public vs private art before planning and executing their own design for a mixed media tile

Narrative Art & Contemporary Chronicles
Elementary Full Year Curriculum:
Looking at both historical and contemporary examples, artists will analyze the different methods and forms in which one can tell a story through visual images. In the 2nd half of the year, students will analyze this concept specifically through the lens of the Postmodern Principles as contemporary works exhibited in the 2019 Whitney Biennial will prompt each lesson. A culminating event at the end of the year discusses the differences between art exhibited in institutions versus art displayed in the public.

Nature & Art
Kindergarten 1/2 Year Curriculum:
Based on the idea that educating students about nature through art can lead to inquisitive minds, students will experience natural objects and environments using all five senses. Students will think, question, hypothesize, and create based on their sensory experiences. Lessons in this unit will have students thinking about media that spans beyond conventional art tools.

Navigating Space
Highschool 1/2 Year Curriculum:
Coming out of quarantine and altered lifestyles due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the way we have become accustomed to and relate to public gatherings within public spaces has shifted. Students will explore the potential of space in artwork and in their community. Through 5 full lessons and two ½ lessons, students will consider the limitations of space and inquire about their position within space and their opinions surrounding value of space.
